In Cecenia, Russia, è in atto una vera e propria persecuzione nei confronti degli omosessuali.
Nelle ultime settimane uomini gay sono stati forzatamente detenuti, torturati ed uccisi dalle autorità.
Il governo della regione ha invitato/minacciato i familiari di omosessuali ad occuparsi direttamente della situazione creando ulteriore violenza nei confronti delle vittime, le stesse autorità stanno ora esercitando pressione al fine che le famiglie delle vittime firmino una dichiarazione di non rappresaglia legale in seguito al trattamento subito dalle persone in stato di arresto o rilasciate.
Volontari dell’organizzazione internazionale All Out che stavano consegnando oltre 2 milioni di firme raccolte richiedenti un’indagine al governo russo sono stati arrestati dalla Polizia di Mosca.
Oltre 80 persone hanno chiesto aiuto alle organizzazioni LGBT locali che, per quanto limitate nelle loro azioni per via della legge contro la “propaganda omosessuale”, ad oggi sono riuscite a far evacuare dalla zona 42 cittadini a rischio.
Coloro che hanno chiesto asilo in USA hanno ricevuto risposta negativa.
Il parlamento Europeo sta ora discutendo una linea ufficiale e quali azioni intraprendere in merito a questa drammatica situazione.

There are more than 77 countries worldwide where homosexuality is illegal or/and have repressive laws against “propaganda of homosexuality”, one of these is Russia where the situation in the region of Chechnya the situation collapsed over last month where gay men have been arrested, tortured and murdered because of their sexual orientation and where authorities have been telling parents of gay men to “sort it out” or the state will intervene.
According to some reports, the detentions of people in Chechnya have currently stopped, and some people who were detained during the so-called “second wave” are released.
At the same time, we receive alarming reports that representatives of the local law enforcement agencies contact relatives of the victims. The law enforcement officers began to pressure the relatives to sign the “no complaints” statements, saying they don’t have any complaints regarding the detentions of their homosexual family members.
The Russian LGBT Network is making every effort to contact the victims and to provide the emergency support and it continues to evacuate homosexuals from Chechnya. As of today, more than 80 people requested assistance. Forty-two people were evacuated from the region.
All Out campaigners on their way to deliver over 2 million signatures to Russian authorities, demanding justice have been detained by Moscow police.
Right now the European Parliament is debating possible action around persecution of gay men in Chechnya
